[S05B-04] Synthesis of Intensive Ground Motions with Specified Response Spectra by Autoencoder

There exists difference among the nonlinear response induced by ground motions fitted to the same response spectrum. This paper proposes a method to synthesize intense ground motions for design purpose, which are fitted to the specified response spectrum. Autoencoder is used to extract dominant features from the ground motions fitted to the target response spectrum. We identify the contribution of these features to the intensity of nonlinear response, and exploit features to synthesize a ground motion which fits the target spectrum but can induce large nonlinear response. Performance of the proposed method is discussed based on numerical simulation results.
