[3N12] Measurement of the spallation neutron energy spectrum at a backwards angle from the MLF mercury target at J-PARC

Accelerator-Driven System (ADS) promoted by JAEA and the others is one of the key means to reduce nuclear waste. The treatment of neutrons for a backwards angle is essential for shielding, especially. We measured the absolute flux spectrum by using BC501A. It is found that PHITS calculation agrees with the experimental results about both spectrum shape and flux intensity.
