Hitachi is developing Resource-renewable Boiling Water Reactor (RBWR), aiming to realize sustainable fuel cycle, which enables us to reduce greenhouse gas emission and provide stable energy source, and proposed so far concepts of break-even reactor and TRU burner as alternative to sodium fast reactor (SFR). In this paper, other potential roles of RBWR for realization of sustainable fuel cycle, such as maintaining fuel cycle flexibility until deployment of SFR and cooperation with SFR, will be proposed.
