To systematically investigate the release behaviors of Cs and I, we have developed a new synthesis technique of simulated fuel containing high volatile compound of CsI. The simulated fuel having a high similarity of microstructure with the real irradiated UO2 fuel from the viewpoint of the grain size and the very fine CsI particles can be achieved by this technique, namely sintering the compacted CsI and Y2O3-stabilized ZrO2 mixed powders with air-tight state.
