[2G07] Study on Eutectic Melting Behavior of Control Rod Materials in Core Disruptive Accidents of Sodium-Cooled Fast Reactors
(17)Reaction Behavior between Molten Stainless Steel and Solid Boron Carbide
Keywords:Sodium cooled Fast Reactor, Boron Carbide, Control Rod, Eutectic Reaction, Conentration Distribution
Our purpose is to construct an analytical model on eutectic melt formation and relocation of control rods in a core disruptive accidents of sodium-cooled fast reactors. In this study, we report the result of measurement of elemental concentration distribution, especially for boron, in the reaction products between molten stainless steel and neutron absorber (boron carbide) at high temperature. It is suggested that boron dissolved in molten stainless steel diffuses quickly in the horizontal direction, and the diffusion of boron in the vertical direction is time-dependent.
