In our previous reports, the rotating corrosion tests of mild steel were carried out in air-solution alternating condition, and the corrosion rate of mild steel in the air-solution alternating condition was faster than the corrosion rate in solution condition. The structure of the iron rust layer formed on mild steel and the acceleration mechanism will be presented in this study. The structure was clarified by the cross-sectional observation and analysis for the mild steel specimen after tested in air-solution alternating condition.
