[1K08] Development of High Temperature Gas cooled Reactor cogeneration plant (hydrogen production and power generation) without core melting
Keywords:High temperature gas cooled reactor, Hydrogen production, renewable energy, load fluctuation, cogeneration
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. aims to construct a safe, low carbon hydrogen producing and power generating high temperature gas reactor (HTGR) cogeneration plant with inherent safety and HTGR that can extract high temperature heat of 900 ° C or more. The HTGR cogeneration plant enables the efficient and mass production of hydrogen, and is expected to greatly contribute to decarbonization by applying it to hydrogen ironmaking, etc. In addition, by adjusting the amount of hydrogen produced and the amount of power generated, it is possible to cope with fluctuations in the power load while maintaining the reactor output constant.
In this project, construction of the plant concept to achieve the above concept, examination of the whole system, development of a helium gas turbine, examination of a practical core, and development of a high temperature heat utilization facility were carried out.
In this paper, the plant concept, the whole system, the main cooling system, and the hydrogen production system using the steam reforming method are described.
