With regard to the decommissioning work at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, fuel debris will be removed from the PCV and stored in an on-site temporary storage facility. Measures for preventing contamination and shielding are required during the process of handling fuel debris and transport. Wet fuel debris are assumed to generate hydrogen due to radiolysis of water. Thus, it is mandatory to prevent hydrogen explosion during transport. In this report, we present discussions on a device to transport wet fuel debris, equipped with a shielded double containment door and hydrogen treatment system, into which dilution gas is injected.
