Dust particles in various sizes spread around a working point in cutting, handling and so on during fuel debris retrieval operations in the Primary Containment Vessel (PCV) in Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. It is required to develop a dust diffusion evaluation and prevention system in order to reduce radiation exposure to the workers. The purpose is to evaluate the dust transfer rates from a cutting point to the air, the bottom, or exhaust ventilation. The dust particle size distribution and behavior when a stainless steel was cut with a disc saw are presented.
