To investigate the cooling performance of the spray under the loss of coolant accident conditions in spent fuel storage facility, simulation of scattering behavior of spray water droplets was conducted using particle method code. Each droplet was modeled using DEM particle and the inertia resistance from the surrounding gas phase was considered to evaluate the movement of droplets. The simulation result agreed qualitatively well with the experimental result. Parametric studies were also conducted to investigate the effect of surrounding gas type (air/steam) or droplet size for the dissipation behavior of droplets.
