Keywords:droplet entrainment, nucleate boiling, two-phase flow

In the present study, droplet entrainment caused by nucleate boiling in a liquid film was visualized in the condition of air-water two-phase flow. A forced convection liquid film was formed in a rectangular flow channel using water and air at atmospheric pressure, and was visualized by heating the film using a cupper block heater. In this experimental condition, a heat flux range from 0.2 to 1.2 and dominant heat transfer mechanism changes from forced convective evaporation to nuclear boiling, and the droplet entrainment phenomenon also changes. These visualizations suggest that the droplet entrainment phenomenon is closely related to the nuclear boiling dominant region.
