[3G_PL01] Activity report of the special committee on advanced hydrogen safety
A simulation code system using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) has been developed to analyze hydrogen behavior including diffusion, combustion, explosion and structural integrity evaluation to improve the hydrogen safety performance of the nuclear power plant under severe accident conditions in the advanced nuclear hydrogen safety research program funded by the Agency for Natural Resources and Energy of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The present session introduces the roll and utilization methods of the CFD code system, validation analysis results on hydrogen diffusion and combustion using existing experimental data, and progress of CFD analyses on hydrogen diffusion and combustion in containment vessel of PWR. The presentations will show that the CFD code system would contribute to hydrogen safety in wide industrial and nuclear fields as well as continuous improvement of the severe accident management of nuclear power plants.
