[3N05] Effects of Ti and Cr concentrations on high temperature tensile properties of high purity V alloys

V-4Cr-4Ti alloy is regarded as a promising candidate structural material in advanced fusion reactor systems, which typically contains 600-1000 mass ppm interstitial impurities (e.g., C, N, O). The alloying element Ti produces long-lived radioactive isotopes under fusion radiation environments, although it scavenges those impurities for the matrix improving the ductility. To shorten the cooling period for recycling, high purity V alloys with lower Ti concentration and about 300 mass ppm interstitial impurities have been developed. However, the reduction of Ti degrades the strength of the alloys. Aiming at maintaining the necessary strength, increase of Cr concentration is considered. In this study, effects of decreased Ti and increased Cr levels on high temperature tensile properties have been investigated.
