Functional coatings have been developed to reduce tritium permeation through structural materials in fusion reactor blankets. In recent years, irradiation experiments and compatibility tests using tritium breeders have been conducted to investigate the performance of ceramic coatings under reactor environments. In an actual reactor, however, the coating is irradiated and corroded simultaneously, and a combined effect may be developed. In this presentation, a synergistic effect on microstructure change of the coatings under irradiation and corrosion conditions is investigated through iron-ion irradiation followed by exposure to liquid Li-Pb.
