[3N15] Fabrication and characterization of ceramics-iron joint coating for electrical insulation
Keywords:Liquid blanket, Coating, Electrical insulation, Joining, Corrosion
Electrical insulating coatings on structural materials have been investigated to reduce the magneto-hydrodynamic pressure drop in fusion reactor liquid metal blankets. The coating also requires the compatibility with the liquid metal. Our previous study showed that the compatibility with liquid lithium lead drastically improved by covering a ceramic coating with an iron foil. For the practical use of the two-layer coating, however, the iron foil must be joined to the ceramic coating. In this study, ceramics-iron joint coatings were fabricated by hot pressing, and their insulating properties and compatibility with lithium lead were evaluated.
