Recently, radionuclide therapy using α-emitter has attracted attention as it can selectively attack local targeted areas. 225Ac, which has high cytotoxicity and optimal half-life, has been used as 225Ac-PSMA-617 for prostate cancer. However, to stably use 225Ac in the medical applications in Japan, its supply chain needs to be improved. For sufficient and domestic production of 225Ac, Uesaka laboratory in the University of Tokyo is designing an electron linac for γ-ray irradiation to a 226Ra target to invoke 225Ra decaying to 225Ac. We used PHITS to simulate the radiation interaction to optimize irradiation conditions. We will report an overall evaluation result about yield of 225Ra and other induced nuclides from the safety perspective.
