In recent years, Ac-225 has attracted clinical attention as a nuclide for TAT(Targeted Alpha Therapy) in nuclear medicine. As the Ac-225 supply highly depends on foreign countries, a production capability in Japan has been desired to accelerate research of Ac-225. Uesaka laboratory in the University of Tokyo has started a feasibility study to domestically produce Ac-225 by photo-induced transmutation of Ra-226 with an electron linac to cause Ra-225 which decays to Ac-225 subsequently. We will report a fundamental design of the electron linac to optimize the γ-ray source in the nuclear transmutation efficiency and safety.
