[1D03] Impurity evaporation behavior of alkali elements from lead-bismuth eutectic
Keywords:Lead-Bismuth eutectic, Spallation products, Evaporation behavior, Cs, Rb
Lead-bismuth eutectic (LBE) is used as a spallation neutron target and coolant material of accelerator driven systems (ADS). Various radioactive spallation products are produced in LBE due to spallation reactions between proton beams. In order to evaluate the dose increase of the system, it is important to understand the release and transport behavior of spallation products from LBE in the coolant system of ADS to cover gas and so on. In this study, evaporation behaviors of Cs and Rb from LBE, which are alkali metal elements with relatively high production amounts, were evaluated by measuring the evaporated chemical species and the vapor pressure using a Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry. The results are compared with the literature values.
