[2F06] Production cross sections of 140Nd in the deuteron-induced reaction on 141Pr
Keywords:Medical radioisotope production, Activation cross section, Neodymium-140
Praseodymium-140 is a positron emitter and available for Positron Emission Tomography in nuclear medicine. Due to its very short half-life (T1/2 = 3.34 min), its parent 140Nd (T1/2 = 3.37 d) is expected to be the generator. 140Nd can be produced using charged-particle-induced reactions, however, we could find only a few experimental studies in a survey. Therefore, we conducted experiments to measure activation cross sections of the deuteron-induced reaction on 141Pr for the 140Nd production. The experiments were performed at the RIKEN AVF cyclotron using the stacked-foil activation method and gamma-ray spectrometry. We report the results on the deuteron-induced reactions on 141Pr.
