[2H10] Development of Material Discrimination Technique by High Energy X-Ray CT
(2)Performance Evaluation for Radiation Detector of High Energy Photon Counting X-Ray CT
Keywords:Fuel debris, Nuclear fuel material, Radioactive waste, High energy X-ray CT
For storage of fuel debris retrieved from Fukushima Daiichi NPP, it is considered to discriminate fuel debris and radioactive waste according to the amount of nuclear fuel materials. High energy X-ray CT is one of the non-destructive assay techniques to measure the mass of high-density objects like nuclear fuel materials with high throughput. In the previous talk, the material discrimination performance using twice irradiations of different X-ray energy fluxes was explained. In this talk, an energy-discriminating radiation detector was introduced, which was developed for applying to photon counting X-ray CT, in order to improve its material discrimination performance and throughput. The applicability was prospected through experimental evaluation of fundamental performances for high count rate X-ray irradiation.
