More sensitive and less intrusive Non-Destructive Assay (NDA) instruments are required to perform partial defect tests on a spent fuel assembly. This research focuses on Passive Neutron Emission Tomography (PNET) as a candidate technology and discusses the effect of water rods in BWR fuel assemblies on PNET by numerical calculations.
