[2K12] Development of Failure Mitigation Technologies for Improving Resilience of Nuclear Structures
(10)Research plan for failure sequence control under excessive earthquakes
Keywords:Excessive seismic load, Piping system, Support structure, Shaking table test
Piping systems which are widely used in nuclear power plants are considered as a specific example of the failure sequence control method under excessive earthquake. Piping systems are usually supported by multiple support structures. Considering the significance in case a failure occurred, it would be reasonable to break the support structures prior to the piping system body and eventually to prevent more significant damage like boundary failure. To confirm the effectiveness of this idea, a shaking table test is planned. In this paper, the idea of failure sequence control for piping system and the plan of shaking table test are described.
