Synchrotron radiation based XAFS analysis was performed on the heat-treated sample of the simulated waste liquid to clarify how the waste component is incorporated into the glass during the vitrification treatment. Two cases were targeted: (1)only the simulated waste liquid was heat-treated, and (2) it was mixed with glass frit and heat-treated. Those that became oxides after denitration and simply reacted with glass, and those that reacted with other components to form complex oxides and solid solutions were observed. These results are useful information for examining the optimized vitrification treatment conditions.
