[3E02] Effect of Titanium on the Cs Chemisorption of Stainless Steel
キーワード:Cesium, Chemisroption, Retention, oxidation, stainless steel, titanium
Cs chemisorption investigation using SS 304 & 321 was carried out to assess the effect of oxidation improvement by Ti solute element. Diverse pre-existing oxide film morphologies were prepared before exposed to CsOH. All processes had been performed under ambient air environment at controlled temperatures starting from 300°C until 1050°C. By comparing those types of SS, Ti was found to gives insignificant impacts on 300°C & 450°C specimens by forming small sticky Cs-Ti-Al-Si-O particles on the outer oxide layers. Nevertheless, Cs-Si-O that was found between inner and outer oxide layers of SS 304 could not be observed on SS 321. Cs even cannot be observed on the SS 321 specimen treated at 1050°C. Ti may be having a high evaporation rate that effectively holds Cs on/in the outer oxide layer and completely evaporated especially at 1050°C.
