[3H07] Double-focusing method for phase correction in neutron resonance spin-echo spectroscopy
Keywords:Neutron spin echo, NRSE, Ellipsoidal neutron focusing supermirror, Phase correction, Quasi-elastic neutron scattering
Neutron resonance spin-echo (NRSE) spectroscopy is a technique for measuring intermediate scattering functions of samples using resonance spin flippers and polarizers. NRSE geometries with focusing mirrors have been proposed in previous studies. NRSE spectrometers with focusing mirrors enable experiments with a high energy resolution and S/N ratio simultaneously. However, the conventional method can only correct the beams with limited azimuthal angles. A new phase correction method is required to conduct NRSE experiments using a complete ellipsoidal focusing mirror, which covers the entire circumference. We propose a double-focusing method that enables us to correct the neutron spin phase for the large divergent beam in NRSE spectroscopy. We report the details of the method and achievable Fourier time.
