Evolution of interface technology for MHD pressure drop reduction in self-cooled LiPb TBM

Highly reliable electrical insulation layer is required for the operation of self-cooled LiPb DEMO-TBM with small MHD pressure drop. The application of self-healing Al-rich oxide film which can be formed on FeCrAl alloys is proposed as an electrical insulation layer in the present study. Some major features ofα-Al2O3 and LiAlO2 layers formed on the alloys were made clear. The MHD pressure drop reduction by these layers were theoretically discussed. The plan of the MHD experiment is also reported in the presentation.
