For the purpose of maintaining the safety of the reactor, blow out panels are installed on nuclear power plants to promote pressure release and temperature drop in severe accidents. The Great East Japan Earthquake made it necessary to reduce the risk of exposure of the reactor operators to the radiactive materials , and it was decided to improve the safety by closing the blow out panels as soon as the pressure and temperature dropped after opening the panels. For this reason, we have developed a blow out panel closing system, which prevents the leaks of radioactive materials in the case of severe accidents such as a great earthquake. The blow out panel closing system is an anti-seismic electric door with a height of 5five meters, which can stand a greater seismic movement than that of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and has a sealing property exceeding the highest standard. By adopting the system, it becomes possible to realise a nuclear power plant with further improved safety performance.
