[1L01] Conceptual design of a muon-catalyzed continuous fusion reactor with a ramjet shock wave stagnation point in a circulating supersonic wind tunnel as the core
Keywords:muon catalyzed fusion reactor, closed circulating tunnel ramjet, high density gas, no plasma, no magnetic field nor inertial force
A ramjet muon catalyzed fusion reactor, that has not plasma, nor magnetic nor inertial forces, is proposed to produce neutrons of 1019 s-1 and heat output of 28 MW in a small core of order ~1 cm3. Along the closed circulating tunnel, D2 + T2 mixed gas accelerates to Mach 4~7 and is compressed to 1022 cm-3 in the ramjet section. The energy generated by neutrons is absorbed in water jacket surrounding fusion core. The alpha particles (helium ash) in the outlet flow shall be removed. Tritium breeding will proceed in the Li mounted SiC honeycomb core located in the neutron flux. Although development of separator is necessary, but other components depend on existing technologies by car, aerospace and fission.
