Our group has been developing DPECT (Double Photon Emission CT) to enhance nuclear medicine diagnostics using cascade nuclides that emit multiple gamma rays simultaneously. It is possible to detect the local environment around the nuclide by examining the angular correlation of the emitted gamma rays. In this study, we measured the change of angular correlations caused by the interaction of the nuclear spin of 111In, which is a cascade nuclide, with externally irradiated ultrasound. Using an 8×8 GAGG scintillator as a detector, the effect of ultrasound on gamma-ray angular correlations is investigated, by comparing ultrasound-irradiated and non-irradiated cases, and by performing experiments at multiple ultrasound intensities. With respect to 111In, ultrasound irradiation showed an increase in the angular distribution from 0 to 20 degrees and from 160 to 180 degrees, while there was a decreasing trend in the angular distribution around 90 degrees.
