Solvent extraction and extraction chromatography are commonly used for the separation and recovery of uranyl ions, but produce large amounts of secondary wastes such as organic solvents and resins. On the other hand, we have constructed a new waste-free direct recovery method of metal ions from aqueous wastes by means of temperature-swing gelification of thermos-responsive polymer. In this study, we aim to develop a separation method which enables to adsorb and desorb uranium by controlling temperature and hydrophobic interactions of monoamide ligands with thermo-responsive polymers, and evaluate the separation ability for uranium nitric acid solutions as well as the relationship between microscopic structures of uranium-ligand-polymer and the separation behavior.
