[1G04] The optimization of Pu layout in SiC matrix fuel compact HTTR core for higher power density operation

The optimization study of Pu layout in HTTR core was conducted to achieve higher power density operation. As a fuel, newly proposed QUADRISO particle containing Pu-YSZ layer placed outer of Uranium fuel kernel was selected. The full core calculation was performed on Serpent2 Monte Carlo simulation code. As a result, it was found that negative reactivity can be linearly inserted to the core per unit Pu coating thickness. In addition, it was determined that over 10 micro meter Pu coating thickness can satisfy the excess reactivity limit (less than 16 %).
