Although molten salt reactors could be controlled by adjusting the primary loop flow, there is the possibility of fine reactivity control being required for daily load follow, feeding fuel salt, and startup/shutdown operation. There is also a possibility that control rods will be equipped in terms of different principles and redundancy. However, since the reactivity of the control rods might be inserted instantaneously in the case of accidents, the optimum control rod worth should be explored including kinetics characteristics, and its preliminary result will be reported.
