[1H_PL01] Outline of LIPAc
One of the issues in realizing a fusion DEMO reactor is development of materials that can withstand high energy neutrons. An accelerator (LIPAc), which is a prototype accelerator for a material irradiation facility, is being developed under the Broader Approach activities in collaboration between Europe and Japan.
The LIPAc has been commissioned in stages. The beam acceleration test with short pulse (low duty) of RFQ was successfully conducted in July 2019, and the long-pulse beam test was started in July 2021. Some issues on stability and associated with higher duty cycle have been revealed. In this session, we would like to report and discuss the beam commissioning plan, the status and issues of accelerator components.
