Water spray has been used as one of the automatic fire extinguishing systems in nuclear facilities. The main extinguishing mechanism of water spray is the cooling effect by droplet evaporation, but there are few studies on the evaluation tool of the water spray cooling effect for nuclear facilities. In this study, the theory of the existing droplet evaporation model was applied to the fire zone model, BRI2-CRIEPI, to predict the change of fire properties of the fire compartment due to the operation of the water spray system. The calculation results for a full-scale fire extinguishing test were compared with the experimental values, and it was confirmed that the cooling effect of water spray in the compartment was well predicted.
