[1M11] Measurement and PHITS simulation of cosmic-ray neutron energy spectra inside a concrete building

Cosmic-ray neutron energy spectra were measured inside a 5-story concrete building in order to estimate the Soft-Error rates (SERs) on semiconductor devices. Position dependence of cosmic-ray neutron flux was investigated by using a 3He-loaded-multi-moderator detector (Bonner ball) at three positions (“window” , ”center” and ”aisle”) in each floor. Furthermore, PHITS simulations were applied to validate the prediction accuracy by comparison with the measured data.
