A shielding experiment using activation detectors was performed at the CERN High-energy AcceleRator Mixed-field (CHARM) facility using protons of 24 GeV/c. Neutrons produced at a copper target were transmitted through various thickness of steel and concrete shields located vertically upward from the target. Benchmark calculations by Monte Carlo codes of FLUKA, PHITS and GEANT4 were also performed, and the simulated results were compared with the measured one.
