In spite of the increasing sophistication of Atom Probe Tomography (APT) instruments, the methods for measurement and analysis of APT are still not standardized internationally. Non-normalized APT measurements may bring data uncertainties and may even amplify APT artifacts when assessing the ageing condition of nuclear materials. In this work, the non-uniform density distribution was examined in some high-detection-efficiency APT data of Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) steels. The simulation of low-detection-efficiency APT data was performed by simplistic reduction of atomic density, to compare the effects of different detection efficiency on the result of cluster analysis using Maximum Separation Method (MSM).
