[2E03] Statistical analysis of Ni and Si co-clustering in stainless steels irradiated to low dose
Keywords:solute cluster, atom probe tomography, stainless steel, early stage
Recent results by atom probe tomography (APT) indicate that the solute clustering of Ni and Si in stainless steels may begin at doses much lower than traditional expectation. Further study of early-stage clustering is expected to include the role of Ni and Si in nucleation and their possible co-clustering behaviors. However, such investigation is hindered by the difficulties in defining tiny clusters and estimating the possible inferences from the APT artifacts. In this work, method was developed to statistically investigate the possible co-clustering phenomenon of Ni and Si at early stage. Stainless steel irradiated to the low dose of 0.8 dpa was taken as an example to confirm the method. The possible influence of APT artifacts was discussed.
