[2F10] Impact of fuel cladding design on neutron balance and radiation damage of cladding in Breed-and-Burn fast reactors
Keywords:Breed-and-Burn fast reactor, neutron balance, radiation damage, fuel cladding, RFBB
The effects of fuel cladding design on neutron balance and cladding irradiation damage in bleed-burn fast reactors were investigated by neutron transport and burnup calculations. The analyses were performed for ODS and HT-9 cladding materials, and for sodium, lead, and lead-bismuth coolants. As a result, it was found that the reduction of the cladding thickness has a significant effect to improve the neutron balance and at the same time to reduce the DPA at the minimum neutron balance point. It was also found that this effect was almost unchanged for ODS and HT-9.
