[2J14] Development of Hydrogen Treatment System in Severe Accidents Phase-II
(1)Overview
Keywords:Severe accidents, Hydrogen treatment system, Metal oxide, Safety enhancements
In the primary containment vessel (PCV) of BWRs, the most promising countermeasure against large quantities of hydrogen generation in the event of severe accidents is to vent the hydrogen out of the system by filter venting. Safety can be improved by constructing an appropriate hydrogen treatment system according to accident response scenarios and combining it with equipment to reduce PCV pressure and temperature, and equipment to treat hydrogen and oxygen produced by radiolysis. This paper presents an overview of the development of a hydrogen treatment system that can cope with the generation of large quantities of hydrogen during severe accidents by using hydrogen treatment system and a hydrogen treatment method in inert atmosphere.
