When liquid jet is discharged from oval nozzles, although the surface wave makes the appearance of the jet different from that of circular nozzles, their breakup processes are consistent. At first the jet is continuous; After a certain distance (the minimum breakup length), the jet breaks, and from this position, the breakup degree gradually grows with the increase of flow distance. Finally, the jet completely breaks into a series of droplets (primary droplet). Although the breakup process has not changed, its characteristic quantities (the process duration, the size of the primary droplet) have slightly changed. In this work, these characteristic quantities are measured, and based on the conclusion of circular nozzles, equations suitable for oval nozzles are given.
