[1A11] Corrosion evaluation and mitigation in the PCV systems under the influence of α/β/γ radiolysis
(4)Evaluation of corrosion behavior under simulated irradiation environment
Keywords:Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, decommissioning, Corrosion, irradiation
Corrosion tests were conducted mainly on PCVs and negative pressure maintenance systems, using oxidant concentration and pH as environmental parameters. The hydrogen peroxide concentration on the corrosion rate of carbon steel tended to reach a maximum at concentrations above 30 ppm. It was also shown that a high concentration of hydrogen peroxide was difficult to maintain in the presence of iron ions. From the viewpoint of localized corrosion in stainless steels, the margin was evaluated by comparing the potential nobilization with increasing hydrogen peroxide concentration and the critical potential for localized corrosion.
