[1B10] Studies on Rapid Uranium Determination using Micro Extractive Liquid Scintillation Spectrometry
Keywords:Solvent extraction, Trace analysis, Microfluidics, Liquid scintillation
In the decommissioning of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, it is essential to determine the physicochemical properties of α-nuclides having an extremely high risk of internal exposure. Our laboratory has succeeded to realize rapid and simple separation of α-nuclides using a microchemical system, and on-line detection using thermal lens microscopy and ICP-MS etc. However, the present measurement methods are limited on the aqueous phase, and difficult to detect directly the organic phase. Therefore, this study aims to create an extraction medium that has both uranium extraction and scintillator functions, and to realize a simple and rapid separation and on-line analysis of α-nuclides in organic phase side after microextraction. In this report, we prepared a uranium extractable liquid scintillator with HDEHP (Di(2-ethylhexyl)phosphoric acid) as an extractant, evaluated its ability to extract and analytical performance.
