In the decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, in-situ simplified evaluation of nuclear fuel materials is required. We have been developing remote in-situ analysis using laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) for in-situ screening analysis. Based on the research activities and the MEXT Project, we have started the R&D for on-site application by the METI Project. We will introduce the ultra-long remote LIBS by a microchip laser, analysis in high dose rate environments, and a microwave assisted LIBS for signal enhancement. In addition, on the application of Handheld XRF and LIBS to spent fuel, it demonstrated that XRF can be used only at relatively low dose rates, while LIBS can be used at high dose rates without any problem.
