In order to improve the accuracy and reduce the calculation cost of the core analysis of commercial light water reactors, we investigated the improvement of the energy group structure in the core calculation of SHIKOKU2-3D. We confirmed that the optimization method using differential evolution can obtain a group structure with the same analytical accuracy with a smaller number of groups than the conventional one.
