The Offshore Floating Nuclear Power Plant mono-column type platform (OFNP), which was proposed by professor Michael Golay et al. of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has also been developed at Council on Competitiveness-Nippon (COCN) in Japan and a part of this development is supported by NEXIP (Nuclear Energy x Innovation Promotion) initiative of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. The OFNP combines two mature and successful technologies which are floating, production, storage and offloading (FPSO) and nuclear power plant, it is moored approximately 30 kilometers from shore. This paper describes activities related to OFNP at COCN until 2022.
