In order to clarify the reaction mechanism between 316L stainless steel, which is a structural material, and B4C, contained in control rods, in the core meltdown accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, we conducted a reaction test between molten 316L stainless steel and B4C.We attempted to analyze the reaction behavior by electron probe micro-analyzer (EPMA) observation on the samples and to derive the reaction rate.
