[2A10] Mechanisms for the Generation of Large-Size Clusters in Cascade Collisions: Insights from Molecular Dynamics Simulations
Keywords:irradiation defects, cluster formation, large-size cluster, generation mechanism, molecular dynamics simulation
High-energy particle irradiation induces high-density point defects and clusters in irradiated materials, altering the material's microscopic structure and affecting its mechanical properties. The cascade process involves a series of processes, including atomic collisions, local melting, cooling, defect recombination, and thermal activation. Due to the complexity of this process, different mechanisms have been discovered for cluster formation. Certain mechanisms contribute to the generation of large-size clusters, resulting in the emergence of large clusters in the cascades that are not formed through the self-organization process of point defects. However, these mechanisms are still not well-defined. In this study, we employed molecular dynamics simulations to simulate the cluster formation process and investigate the mechanisms involved in the formation of large size clusters.
