The purpose of this research is to utilize laser isotope separation (LIS) in order to produce 48Ca. The first step is to establish a stable production system using one of the six atomic beams and up to 2W of laser power. The laser must have a consistent wavelength to calcium absorption wavelength (422.7918 nm) with a deviation of less than 2 MHz rms. A complex production system has been designed, consisting of a six-atomic beam generator, a laser system, a collection system, and a monitor and control system. The current progress of the production unit is discussed, with the primary objective being to achieve an annual production rate of 1 mol/year.
