Isotope separation of Ca-48 and Li-7 was examined via chemical exchange processes by multi-stage liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) using crown-ether (DC18C6 and B15C5). This work was studied in terms of the presence and absence of 12M HCl. The ion concentration of each phase was measured by atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS: AA-6800). On the other hand, the isotope composition was determined by an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICP-MS: Agilent 7900) using the “cool plasma with s lens” technique. This measurement technique has recently been improved from the previous technique, which was the hot plasma technique with H2 gas mode and x lens. As a result of multi-stage liquid-liquid extraction, the isotope effect was observed while studying the separation of lithium and calcium isotopes. The result indicates good feasibility for future developments.
